Berry Gordy was shocked to be informed of this by Stevie Wonder and Berry Gord signed Stevie Wonder's offer of more independence and full creative control and the rights to all his music. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollar MoTown Records contract in 1972. This entitles Stevie Wonder to a higher royalty and greater creative control, as well as rights to his own songs, which few artists had gotten during that time. The agreement also allowed Wonder's songs and videos to discuss controversial subjects like drug abuse, war and poverty. His album from 1972, Music Of My Mind was the first album to be released under his brand new MoTown deal. Talking Book, Stevie Wonder's 1972 album, is a significant moment in the world of music. The album featured the most popular hit song, Superstition.
